What I think About Immigration

The Office for National Statistics says net migration to the UK increased in the year ending December 2012. The net migration rose to 176,000 up from 153,000 people in the year to September 2012, despite the government efforts.

The number of people coming from Non-EU are set a bar high for everything, studying and living, and legally restricted, whereas European people come freely. As one of the results, the number of European has rose. It is said that especially Romanians and Bulgarians working in the UK rose by nearly 26% between April and June, it's only during 2 months.

Prime Minister David Cameron wants to get UK net migration below 100,000 before the next election in 2015, but I wonder whether they can make it. As they committed to membership of the EU, I think they can't achieve the target. They can do nothing, that's why they focus their eyes on Non-EU countries, and say an unreasonable thing such as meeting income requirements and so on. Obviously the EU law is a drag on their target achievement.

In a sense, the EU law may be one of the protections at the moment for international couples of British citizen and non-EU, who can't meet the requirement for immigration visa. However, I think it's hard to resolve immigration problem, unless they break the EU law or appeal to the EU, because there are limitations to set impose petty restrictions on only Non-EU citizens. It already has the potential for serious impacts on human rights. I pay attention to trends in their policy.
