Spouse Visa - FLR(M)

Now I've been living in the UK on a fiancee visa, but I must change my status to Spouse Visa, because I've already got married and the fiancee visa is only for six months. Everybody who has a visa says this, but in fact, this visa process makes us being frustrated by a variety of reasons. For example, the website of UK Border Agency (UKBA) is complicated to read and understand, I need to print out an application form and fill it by hand in the digital age, fees for visas are getting expensive, the rule is changeable and getting tighter etc... It's very stressful.

But I think the most difficult process to get a visa was the first stage. We used a solicitor to apply for the fiancee visa and applied the application form and supporting documents 5 cm or more thickness, and all copies as well. Although, we need to keep our eyes open. We have to show up everything to officers of the UKBA to proof that our love is true and we have the economic resources.

I can choose the way to submit the application, by post or in person. The fee of in person is more expensive than by post, but you can receive a decision and enrol biometrics (facial image and fingerprints) on the same day. So you need to make an appointment when you want to apply it in person. The UKBA website said "Our online booking service is fast, simple and convenient", but in fact, almost reservations are already full for several months. At first, I couldn't believe this situation and thought website's error was occurred. Because it's impossible that every date is full and people can't use premium service, but it was real. The UKBA is especially now clouded with governmental repeated changes and cost reduction. Luckly I could make an appointment, but there's no choice of the date and office.

Especially, this time is a tight phase for non-EU people to live, study or work in the UK. We've already heard some terrible situations at a meeting and also the news about the London Metropolitan University. I want to live with peace of mind.
