Brick Lane
It was a bit of a cold day, despite that the weather had stayed nice for a while. We went to London on Saturday. We walked around Brick Lane area, near London Liverpool Street station. Many immigrants have settled in and developed this area. Today, it is known as Banglatown and is famous for many curry restaurants and markets. For that reason, this area has a bit of an exotic atmosphere.
It's a very popular area for young people as well, because of markets. Many stands were set up, and people sold food from their homelands. You can taste national dishes at a low price. At the Backyard Market, many stalls were set up and from clothes to accessories were sold.
Inside this building, many antiques were sold. If you look very carefully, you may some treasures.
This building is the Vibe Bar, built on the site of the Old Truman Brewery, once the industrial centre of the area. Now the Old Truman Brewery is an office and entertainment complex.
We took a late lunch at one of the curry restaurants. We sat down in a seat by the window, so many passed-by people browsed what we were eating:) We were definitely the shop's demonstrators and advertisement. It was funny and fun. We also enjoyed people watching. We witnessed a Bangladeshi demonstration against their government by chance. The London Coffee Festival has been held at Old Truman Brewery during this weekend, so I could see there was a long queue for the festival.
On our way back to the London Liverpool Street Station, we walked into Old Spitalfields Market near Brick Lane. I like this area, because there are many markets. Before I've passed through Petticoat Lane Market the south of Brick Lane as well. It's so fun to see markets, isn't it?
