Silver Week

Now, Japan is in the public holiday period which is called 'Silver Week'. The name 'Silver Week' probably came from the long spring holiday term 'Golden Week'. Around the weekend there are the following Japanese holidays :
  • Respect for the Aged Day; third Monday of September
  • Autumnal Equinox Day; astronomically determined, but usually September 23
  • Kokumin no kyūjitsu; the day in between the two other holidays
I used to work in a quiet office at this time of year as most people were on a summer holiday, and then took extra days off  around the Silver Week. It's a good time to travel other countries.
