A Part of Wendy's Easter Walk
We walked about a half of Wendy's Easter Walk; a path along the rivers Chelmer from Chelmsford to Maldon. We were thinking about short walk (about 4-5miles) and the whole way is probably 10-12miles, so we decided on the destination, "a pub in Little Baddow". As we started to walk, we realised a charity walking event was held on the same course. Their direction was opposite to ours, but many people including children and dogs with number tags passed by.

Swans swam on the river.
Some narrow boats were tied up, and it was busier and lively with walkers around here.

It was a bit cloudy. We passed through a field, some houses were cropping the grass at their feet.

Along the river, there were some locks for boats. The building on the other side of the river is the legacy of World War II; a Pillbox. According to Wikipedia, the interesting name originally arose from their perceived similarity to the cylindrical and hexagonal boxes in which medical pills were once sold. It's a strange feeling to see traces of World War II in a peaceful place.
It was unlikely to get lost this time because it's simple path along the river and also many walkers:) We had a simple map as well (and detailed map was in my bag just in case).
The view was very picturesque. It was a nice view but a bit noisy with a bypass circuit near there.
As we walked, we saw something yellow approaching. Yes, it's rape blossoms. It was so beautiful under the sunshine.
Away from the bypass, it was an extremely quiet location.
After we passed Little Baddow Mill Lock, we crossed a bridge, and walked on the road, not footpath. There were camping sites.
Face on the tree?? |
We could see Little Baddow Church.
There was another public footpath towards the church:) An arrow public footpath sign directed to this field. You can see the ground line (path) slightly.
We passed the church and walked along a narrow road. We saw a unique thatched barn and interesting shaped tree.
Little Baddow is quite a nice village. There is a hill and the pub; The Rodney on the way to the top. It was a lovely pub and served a nice food. We walked well. We are satisfied this walking very much.
