Izutsu Yatsuhashi
There is a complex information centre of Kyoto near the Yaesu Central entrance of Tokyo Station. Even though you can't visit Kyoto, you can get various Kyoto goods at that place. Izutsu Yatsuhashi is one of famous confectionaries of Kyoto. I bought this cinnamon cookies.
Baked in the shape of a koto, a traditional musical instrument of Japan, its name comes from Kengyo Yatsuhashi (1614-1685), a famous koto composer and performer. It is made from only natural rice flour, cinnamon, sesame, soybean flour and sugar and is, therefore, a healthy confectionary. It can be eaten plain or served with coffee, tea or ice cream for an even more delicious treat. Mmm, nostalgia!
