Teshigoto
I noticed that the word 'Teshigoto' or 'Monodukuri (produce, create, build)' are used in particular on magazines, newspapers or at the bookstores. 'Teshigoto' means handmade and crafts, such as pottery, basket, paper, sewing, knitting, dyeing, leatherwork etc... As you know, handmade is not new and it's a very old and basic way to produce something for human being. But seems like traditional, stylish and modern handicraft products have gathered attention to review the role of Japanese traditional techniques and knowledge, to preserve them.
I don't deny mass-produced producs, because it's very efficient and will be offered for all the people at affordable prices. But I love handmade, because as all we know, they are so unique, and give you senses of warmth and affection. As a person who enjoys crafting in the UK, I am thinking to absorb something of Japanese culture and tradition into my work.
