The Angel

"The coach rattled through the streets of a handsome town of thriving and cleanly appearance and stopped before a large inn, situated in a wide open street facing the old abbey. 'This must be Bury St Edmunds and this,' said Mr Pickwick, looking up 'is the Angel."

This is from 'The Pickwick Papers' by an English writer, Charles Dickens (1812-1870).
He stayed at The Angel Hotel in Bury St. Edmunds in 1859 and 1861. On both occasions he stayed in Room 215. This attractive ivy-covered façade building; The Angel Hotel was built in 1452. opposite the Abbey Gardens. It has been owned and run by the Gough family since 1973.

We stayed at this hotel. Our room was not part of the original building, but in a modern extension. It was not so big but a high ceiling, clean and comfortable room. I liked the round window:) The restaurant, lounge and every service were also perfect and we had a nice weekend:)

According to the weather forecast, it would have been a sunny weekend, but it has been cloudy. I think sunshine was defeated by the big mouse's (bad weather bringer's) power...
