West Stow Forest Park

While we stayed in Bury St Edmunds, we went a little further to the north, the Forest Park for short walking. It is the part of Thetford Forest; the largest lowland pine forest in Britain.

Lately, we have been hooked on walking:) We had about a 3 miles walk in the Forest Park. My husband checked about the park by Internet and made a plan. To be honest, I was a bit worried at first, because we didn't have any map and it's the "forest". I had a mind that getting lost could happen. His hunch was the only one we could rely on. I thought "Was it trustworthy?" and "Was it incautious behaviour?" No, I don't think so. Perhaps you need a map when you walk a long way in the Thetford Forest, but our route was ok. Because the route was edge of the forest along the River Lark, and this area is surrounded by roads, north, south, east, west, which way you go, you come across a road at the end:) As a result, we could walk all the way through without a single mistake:)

+ Route

This forest has a rich variety of animal and plant life. First, we passed by the old West Stow Sewage Farm & Pumphouse.

Kept walking through pine trees as following the arrow.

There was a flower garden and garden house, but it was closed and locked on that day.

We cross this road.

Now, we could see the lake(?) over the river. There were many birds over there. That must be the safest place for them.

The path became wild, but it was so quiet. No car sounds, we only could hear birds' singing and hum of bees.

Cows were over there. And also we saw a beautiful white swan behind the bush. It was very close, but I couldn't take a photo, because it bent its neck down...

We reached West Stow Road, it was a goal of our walking. We passed some people, but basically in the forest, we didn't see any people. There were only us, surrounded by nature. It was a very remote area.
