Shikinen Sengu

One of the places I want to visit the most in Japan is Ise Jingu. This isn't just because religious connotation, but curious. Ise Jingu is the shrine with two thousand years history, and it is known as the place where the Japanese prime minister pays an official visit for a new year's prayer. My mother travelled there with her friends last month and sent me a memorial lucky charm.

This year, 'Shikinen Sengu' will be conducted. It's a ceremonies in every 20 years for rebuilding the buildings in accordance with the Shinto tradition . The main events are the transfer of the object of worship to the new building, which is called 'Sengyo'. This ceremonial system has been conducted for 1300 years.
