Ranking of quality of life

The other day, I found in an article that Great Britain is "worst place to live in Europe". They were judged on 16 categories; average of working hours, retirement age, number of holidays, hours of sunshine, life expectancy, education spending, net household income, petrol prices, diesel prices, gas prices, electricity prices, alcohol prices, food prices, cigarette prices, rate of VAT on goods and services.

According to the study, France has the best quality of life in Europe, while Britain has the worst due to its high living costs and the second lowest hours of sunshine a year. This article was quite intriguing for me. I don't know if Britain is really worst place to live, because I've never lived in the UK or other European countries. Though I've thought the cost of food and tube in London are incredibly high...

This study is just numerical value, what people really feel and think are highly individual, and it's wrong to make generalisation. Ordinary people can't gain anything from this ranking, just get shocked, agree or complain about it. There is no end to money issue, because human-beings are greedy creatures. But at least, I think people here make effective use of sunshine as much as they can, they know how to adjust their lifestyles depending on the environment in a way. Like the proverb says, "Home is where you make it", one's own country seems to be the best one :)
